  10. DOS3.30 Backup -> DOS 5.00 Restore?

  12. Thanks for all the e-mails and newsgroup postings.

  14. As some of you pointed out, in the manual it promises that DOS 5.00 
  15. can restore backups from all previous DOS versions. The trouble to 
  16. watch out for is 'assign'ed, 'join'ed, or 'subst'ed drives. I was 
  17. also using PC-NFS 4.0a, which I believe has trouble with DOS's Restore.

  19. So first I prepared a new set of boot files for my PC, clearing out 
  20. anything that might cause a problem. Then I ran the restore, carefully 
  21. using the correct syntax:

  23.         restore a: c:\*.* /s
  24.  
  25. *Not* "restore a: c: /s", or "restore *.* c:"
  26.  
  27. And it worked fine. I spent quite a few hours before getting this right,
  28. so thanks again for the support.
