- Help.... I am looking for any possible assistance.
-
- We have some PC's that are running a software product called Reflection, Hewlett-Packard
- emulation software, that are getting garbage characters on the screen. The facts concerning
- the PC's and their configuration follow;
-
- 1. All of the PC's are connected to the Hewlett-Packard 3000 via a serial port, either Com1
- or Com2. (the PC's are both Zenith 386sx's and DTK's each running at least 4MB ram)
- 2. The pc's are also connected to a Novell 3.11 LAN and to the campus's backbone network
- via ethernet. We are running Clarkson Packet drivers to connect to the Novell server and
- still have connectivity to IP software that we are also using. (ethernet cards are both Western
- Digtial and 3Com)
- 3. The Hewlett-Packard is the Model 3000, 980/100, running the 3.0 operating
- environment. (Please bear with me as I am not an expert when it comes to the HP3000.)
- 4. When we experience the garbage on these PC's the users can disconnect the network card
- and the garbage goes away.
- One of our staff thinks that the problem is related to the IRQ's of the Serial Prot and the
- ethernet card. He feels that since the network card is at IRQ 5 and the com port is at IRQ 3
- that the network card is somehow invading into the com port and causing the garbage.
-
- What makes the problem even worse is that it doesn't occur all of the time it is very
- intermittent.
-
- Any suggestions????? Post or send directly to me.
