  15. Ack!  Until more ethercard drivers are working this should be one of
  16. the first lines in the FAQ

  18. The 3c503 and NE2000 ethercards are not WD80[01]3 ethercards!  You
  19. must have a WD8003 or WD8013 to run Linux 0.98.*.

  21. I do have the NE2000 ethernet driver in alpha test, and the 3c503
  22. driver will be announced in a few weeks, so don't throw away your
  23. current ethercard and buy a new one.  Unless, of course, you have a
  24. 3c501 (which shows no promise of being able to out-perform a serial
  25. card).

  27. If you are planning to purchase an ethercard for use under Linux you
  28. might want to wait a few weeks to see if anyone posts performance
  29. results.  It might be worth your time, as NE2000 clones are < $100.
