- Coh 4.x works fine on the 386sx, but better on the 386dx and best on
- the 486. I use 4 mb of simm ram. I usually have no more than three
- users logged in at once, with me having 4 simultaneous logins.
-
- I've never run out of memory. That's what the real advatange to the
- 32 bit system is. I can load a couple of megabytes into microemacs
- without doing a split. I can run several different 'consoles'.
-
- Even tass will allow as many articles as I have ever thrown at it
- ( 900 + in my junk directory ). Believe me, with the price of ram,
- I'll put another 4 mb on as soon as I ever hit the ceiling. I'm finding
- the hard drive cramped with all the news and new programs etc, and the
- lack of a tape drive makes much misery.
-
- Still, I have my trusty '286 running coh 3.2. Now that I have an
- arcnet link between my 3.2 box and my 4.0 box, I'm thinking of
- using my '286 as an archiver for my '386. ( compression must be
- done on the '386 as it is vastly faster.)
-
- Unfortunately, you can't go down to the corner software store and
- try out 4.x for yourself. If you could, you'd very likely carry home
- a 4.0 to run on your 386sx.
