- What are the frequency increments for a normal scale?
- i.e. doh ray me fah so la tee doh
- or of course A B C D E F G A
- (I think they're the same??? I am a music theory moron)
-
- Being a mathematician, I tried to divide the octave into 7 notes so
- that if you have the frequency of one note, you could multiply or
- divide by it by the seventh root of 2 ( 2^(1/7) ) to get one of the
- adjacent notes. Then a frequency times
-
- / \ 7
- | 1/7 |
- | 2 | = 2 i.e. seven steps/notes
- \ /
-
- gives the frequency one octave higher.
-
- Well, it just didn't sound right. I have a feeling that it is more
- complicated than that.

- Thanks!
