  12. Stupid sendmail question #27,905:

  14. I have a small, one-machine registered domain (fairgate.com) which
  15. receives MX forwarding services from a local Well-Connected Site
  16. (acatt.aidt.edu.) The two machines have been connecting via uucp for
  17. some time with no major problems.

  19. However, now that the DNS recognizes fairgate.com and can route mail
  20. to acatt for further distribution, no mail is making it past acatt.
  21. Outbound mail from fairgate does work, but appears with a
  22. "Return-path" of fairgate.aidt.edu.

  24. Question 1: If I understand Neil Rickert's post in this group, the
  25. Return-Path header is generated at the mail's destination and is not
  26. significant for mail routing. Thus, if anyone complains I can
  27. cheerfully tell them that they need to update their mail software,
  28. right?

  30. Question 2: I suspect that I'll need a Cm line added to sendmail.cf on
  31. my MX forwarder, perhaps
  32.     Cmfairgate.com fairgate.uucp
  33. Is this required so that mail to the old-form uucp address still makes
  34. it through?

  36. Question 3: Will a Cm line in sendmail.cf allow acatt to recognize and
  37. forward mail to a system in a different domain? Will its absence
  38. forbid it?

  40. Posts here, or direct e-mail, are fine. If you tell me to RTFM, please
  41. specify which FM. The SunOS sysadmin's guide hasn't helped too much so
  42. far. Then again, it could be me.
