-
- Sunnyvale, Calif.--November 6, 1992--Open Verilog International (OVI) today
- announced program information for its second annual International Verilog
- HDL Conference, March 22-24, 1993 at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara, CA.
- The Conference program includes a Keynote luncheon address on Tuesday,
- March 23rd given by Prabhu Goel, past founder and president of Gateway
- Design Automation, the company that introduced the first Verilog HDL
- simulator in 1985. The Conference is open to OVI members and non-members,
- as well as new and future Verilog language users.
-
- According to Jim Hill, International Verilog HDL Conference chairman and
- CAD Artisans' chairman and CEO, "The second annual International Verilog
- HDL Conference is open to everyone interested in HDLs and their future. The
- OVI-sponsored meeting allows Verilog HDL users and vendors to interact and
- exchange ideas about the future of Verilog and top-down design. This year's
- Conference theme of 'Design Excellence for Today and Tomorrow' is reflected
- in the Conference program and sessions about successful Verilog designs and
- the future of HDLs."
-
- The first day of the Conference offers tutorials for new Verilog language
- users and users who wish to extend their knowledge of the language.
- Tutorial topics range from an introduction to the Verilog language to
- advanced synthesis and modeling sessions, covering architectural and
- behavioral modeling for systems level designs.
-
- The second and third days of the Conference include presentations, panels,
- exhibits, a hospitality reception and working group sessions. Topics vary
- from case studies and user experiences to synthesis, test technology and
- model interoperability. Panels offer insights on several HDL topics:
- Verilog language extensions, model interoperability and the state of
- Verilog. Over 25 exhibitors will be demonstrating their Verilog products
- and services. In addition, the Conference includes a special open OVI
- session that provides an opportunity to meet the OVI Board members and
- Technical Committees chairs and discuss Verilog's future.
-
- OVI exists to support and promote the use of Verilog HDL. OVI consists of
- over 45 members, including electronic systems, EDA tool vendors,
- semiconductor companies and universities. Verilog HDL is supported by over
- 135 libraries from 29 vendors. There are between 15,000-20,000 designers
- using Verilog HDL. Over 130 universities worldwide teach Verilog HDL. The
- 1992 OVI Directory of Service and Support lists over 35 companies
- supporting the Verilog language with services and products.
