  13. John Line notes that Veronica presents a problem since many gopher servers
  14. allow menu items referring to restricted resources (and hence would appear
  15. in the Veronica listing) but block actual access to the resources.  This
  16. problem should become somewhat less acute when Unix gopherd 1.1 is
  17. deployed, since it will allow secure gopher servers that block the menu as
  18. well.

  20. Even better would be a gopherd that checked access rights when generating
  21. a menu (i.e. a type 1), and did not return items that were inaccessible
  22. to the particular client.
