  15. First things first, for those who saw my message about veronica not
  16. returning anything under unix gopher 1.02 this is due to a bug in the
  17. 1.02 gopher client. This was pointed out by the author of veronica and
  18. I now have veronica up and running under 1.03 unix gopher. (Right now
  19. the server is down)

  21. I discovered a wealth of online books at a site and project I had
  22. never heard of. All gophers seem to know about project Gutenberg and
  23. the etext collection there, but here is another source that has an
  24. equally extensive collection.

  28. The site has among other things

  30. A Sherlock Holmes collection.
  31. A collection of Fairy tales
  32. and a lot of other classics.

  34. One question:
  35.  
  36. Many of the files at this site are compressed and a couple of them are
  37. tar files. Is there any way to convince the gopher client to display
  38. the files rather than saving them?  It should be a simple matter to
  39. have a little shell script that first sees if the file extension is a
  40. .Z and if so zcats the file before piping it to the pager.
