- It may be an easy way, but it's not the most efficient way to
- get a news feed, and it's sure not what's intended by those of
- us who've mounted such services. The goal is to provide a way
- for people who don't have easy access to news reading tools to
- have an online mechanism for browsing Usenet News. Apparently some
- sites are actually downloading entire newsgroups -- especially
- the binary ones -- from Gopher gateways. I don't know of a Gopher
- client that will reassemble a series of files, uudecode them, and
- launch a GIF (or JPEG or FLI) viewer; sites that want local feeds
- of binary groups should provide them the old fashioned way, not by
- pointing to remote Gopher-Usenet gateways.
