- I'd like to see one listing per {campus,commercial organization,govt. entity}
- in the Gopher Central database. I see no reason why that server can't take
- on the responsibility of pointing to all gophers at its organization. This
- would help the problem some.

- You're right, geographical organization isn't very useful to a lot of people.
- The proper organization is topical. I've noticed a few sites beginning to
- tackle this kind of organization, viz:
-
- Name=NC State--See Library Without Walls
- Type=1
- Host=dewey.lib.ncsu.edu
- Port=70
- Path=
-
- Name=CIESIN--See Environmental Internet Catalog
- Type=1
- Host=gopher.ciesin.org

- Name=UNevada Reno--See Selected Topics By Discipline
- Type=1
- Host=hunter.cs.unr.edu
- Port=70
- Path=
-
- Name=SUNET--See Subject Tree
- Type=1
- Host=sunic.sunet.se
- Port=70
- Path=
-
- In order to do this effectively, we need some kind of coordination, some
- way of announcing what unique resource our individual servers offer, and
- some agreement about what kind of subject taxonomy to use.
-
- I've also noticed that there's a group in Europe working on a project to
- do subject-oriented registry.
