  16. Wow! You guys south of the border are paying bigtime for books.  I picked
  17. up Aronson at the Simon Fraser University Bookstore in Vancouver, B.C. for
  18. $49 CANADIAN! What would that be in USD these days, $40?

  20. I'll admit however, paying over $70 for a very slim book on Physical
  21. Oceanography for a course back in 1986.

  23. Here in Saudi, I have to order anything specialized, usually at over 200
  24. per cent mark-up.

  26. Are university texts really that expensive to produce??

  28. Are there any initiatives in the works amongst agencies with a GIS
  29. focus to subsidize digital data and or reference materials such as
  30. textbooks? NCGIA? Others? At least within the realm of GIS in the
  31. academic and research environment, it would seem beneficial.
