- Wow! You guys south of the border are paying bigtime for books. I picked
- up Aronson at the Simon Fraser University Bookstore in Vancouver, B.C. for
- $49 CANADIAN! What would that be in USD these days, $40?
-
- I'll admit however, paying over $70 for a very slim book on Physical
- Oceanography for a course back in 1986.
-
- Here in Saudi, I have to order anything specialized, usually at over 200
- per cent mark-up.
-
- Are university texts really that expensive to produce??
-
- Are there any initiatives in the works amongst agencies with a GIS
- focus to subsidize digital data and or reference materials such as
- textbooks? NCGIA? Others? At least within the realm of GIS in the
- academic and research environment, it would seem beneficial.
