  15. Job announcement:  Research Positions
  16.  
  17. Mississippi State University invites applicants for three Research 
  18. Assistant (non-tenure) positions in its NSF Engineering Research Center 
  19. for Computational Field Simulation.  The goal of the Center is to advance 
  20. the state of the art in large-scale computational simulations on geometrically-
  21. complex  physical field problems, and to transfer these technologies to 
  22. industry.  The following positions are currently available at the Research 
  23. Assistant I or II level:
  24.  
  25.     Scientific Visualization:  Responsibilities include developing new
  26.         scientific visualization methods and paradigms, such as vector field 
  27.         visualization and concurrent visualization of field simulation 
  28.         results.  An MS is required. 
  29.  
  30.     Computer Graphics:  Responsibilities include development, instruction, 
  31.         support, and maintenance of interactive graphics software for internal 
  32.         and external users.  Knowledge of X/Motif and GL is required.  A BS is 
  33.         require, MS preferred.
  34.  
  35.     Programmer:  Responsibilities include development, maintenance and support 
  36.         of general software systems.  A strong background in software 
  37.         engineering, complex data-structures, algorithms, and C is preferred.  
  38.         A BS is required.
  39.  
  40. Demonstrated ability and experience in programming and testing on high-
  41. performance graphics workstations in C and UNIX is required, and a working 
  42. knowledge of FORTRAN is preferred.  Travel may be required in each position.  
  43. Salary is competitive and commensurate with degree and experience.  The Center 
  44. also offers the opportunity for further graduate study  in computational 
  45. engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and various traditional 
  46. engineering studies.
