  13. Can anyone tell me a little of the history of ex?  I would like to know
  14. if it was developed simultaneously with vi (for use with the hard copy
  15. terminals which were still common then) or if it preceded vi, and I would
  16. also like to know if ed played any role in its development.  Are there
  17. editing tasks which one can do in ed that one can't do in ex, or vice versa.
  18. Is the regular expression code in ed also used in ex?
