- Can anyone tell me a little of the history of ex? I would like to know
- if it was developed simultaneously with vi (for use with the hard copy
- terminals which were still common then) or if it preceded vi, and I would
- also like to know if ed played any role in its development. Are there
- editing tasks which one can do in ed that one can't do in ex, or vice versa.
- Is the regular expression code in ed also used in ex?
-
- With thanks,
