  22. I don't understand... WordPerfect does columns nicely.  Even though the
  23. highlighted area covers full lines as you move, you can still delete
  24. copy or move just the rectangle delimited by the cursor positions when you
  25. start the block operation and when you give the command.  That's the
  26. difference between "block" and "rectangle" operations.
