  37. To Combinet Interchange Users:

  39. This note applies to users of the Combinet INTERCHANGE(tm)
  40. Bridge, Software version 2.11 or below:
  41.  
  42. For large networks (over 1500 Ethernet addresses), it is
  43. important that the Combinet Interchange be configured as
  44. described below.
  45.  
  46. If a small remote workgroup (less than 250 Ethernet addresses) is
  47. being bridged to an enterprise LAN, the two Interchanges should
  48. be configured as follows:

  50.      1) The Interchange which is connected to the enterprise LAN
  51.      should be set as follows:
  52.  
  53.           SEt MOde ONly
  54.  
  55.      2) The remote LAN Interchange should be set as follows:

  57.           SEt MOde ANy
  58.           SEt AGe 1200
  59.  
  60. If two large networks are being bridged, both Interchange units
  61. should be set up as follows:

  63.           SEt MOde ANy
  64.           SEt AGe 1200*

  66. * The aging time parameter (1200 in the example) is network
  67. dependent.  The aging time should be set such that the address
  68. table will not exceed 1500 addresses.

  70. There is a new release of Interchange software (2.15) which
  71. ensures correct operation of the units independent of
  72. configuration.  This is currently available by calling Combinet
  73. technical support.
  74.  
  75. Note:  The address aging feature is not available in software
  76. versions below 2.02.  In this case, it is recommended that units
  77. be upgraded to release 2.15.
