  14. A financial services company is seeking a hardware platform for 
  15. database management. The choice has been narrowed down to :

  17.          0] Ingres DBM S/W. 
  18.          1] SUN SS-10 [SS== Super Scalar] 
  19.                [or] 
  20.             HP 827/837. 
  21.  
  22. The proposed architechture is a client-server based system and to
  23. support upto a maximum of 100-150 users.

  28.   0] What outweighing factors between a SUN and HP, makes one 
  29.      of them a clear cut choice as a DBMS platform ? 
  30.       -- Is there somebody out there, who had faced similar dilema ?

  33.   1] Has there been any benchmark that has been run to compare 
  34.      the performances of different platforms for database mgmt ?
  35.      [Especially with Ingres]

  37.   2] Does the SUN SS-10 performance degrade rapidly with more users ?

  40.   3] Any positive aspect/shorcomings of the hardware platforms
