- I spent last Wednesday tracking down a bug involving negative pad offsets
- in Allegro 5.1. A pad offset in a pad stack is a useful way of creating
- a window opening around both pads of a surface mount discrete component
- such as a 1206 resistor. The 5.1 bug is that the artwork program to create
- gerbers takes the absolute value of the offset. It treats positive
- offsets fine, but negative offsets get treated as a positive value. The
- pad in the *.brd look fine, the error is only noticible when you create
- gerbers and plot them or read them back in.
-
- Valid/Cadence is aware of the problem and has a patch. It is a real pain
- to spend time tracking down a known bug. Would it be possible for the
- Cadence people to post application alerts, bug reports and fixes to this
- newsfile?
