  10. I've been grinding out code for some time, and keeping the secret to myself :-)
  11. I thought I'd send my latest creations over to halcyon and let the world in
  12. on the secret.....

  16.    At is a one-shot form of the unix utility cron; it's input is a standard
  17.    crontab line.  There is also an option to exit immediately (after
  18.    performing any program specified, if appropriate).  The exit status code
  19.    will be set, and you can decide where to go depending on whether the
  20.    time was the one specified in the command line.

  22. Duck -

  24.    Duck is a program I wrote for Waffle to analyze the cost of the phone
  25.    calls to my hosts.  Duck was written so that I would know what the costs
  26.    would be; however, it could possibly be used for billing purposes.
  27.    This was NOT my intent - a Usenet feed should be a public service, in
  28.    the tradition of the Hacker Ethic.

  32.    Ellie is a text file translation tool, which will strip (or add) control-Z
  33.    end-of-file markers, set (or clear) high bits, and set the line-terminator
  34.    to carriage return only, linefeed only, or both.  There are also several
  35.    pre-sets, including translations to text formats for UNIX, Apple II ProDOS,
  36.    Apple II DOS 3.3, and MS-DOS.

  40.    Jenna is a program which will save messages to a v1.64 format.  Each
  41.    message is saved to a file, which can be in the standard <user>.###
  42.    format, but there are other options - Jenna was originally written for
  43.    another purpose and kind of grew into its current form.

  45. Spin -
  46.  
  47.   Spin will scan your files area (in specified subdirectories) and post
  48.   new files to the specified newsgroup, uuencoded, with "Part x of y"
  49.   subject lines.

  51. Termite -
  52.  
  53.   This program will take an incoming Flea file (from a Fidonet file echo)
  54.   and put the incoming file into a specified Waffle subdirectory.  The
  55.   file's description will be automatically added to the specified files
  56.   description file (given in the static file).

  58. NOTE:

  60.   If you combine Spin and Termite, you can start gating file echos into
  61.   Usenet...... (but be careful!)

  63. I'm also working on a news and mail gateways to Fidonet for Waffle.  The
  64. news gateway is in beta test; if you don't mind being a guinea pig for
  65. possible loose cannons and bombs, send a mail message to
  66. list-server@ruth.uucp with "subscribe amanda-l" in the message body
  67. and all should be well.  The mail gateway is still under development and
  68. is not available yet for beta test.
