- Here's a wierd one...
-
- Since I moved, I've kept my Waffle up most of the time, and I sometimes
- call into it from elsewhere. (it's still not public, though) I've
- given an account to a site admin I connect with, so he can stop by and
- grab stuff he needs. Once in a great while, Waffle would lock up when
- he or I would shell to DOS.
-
- This week, I installed an additional hard disc, so I wouldn't have to
- rabidly expire so much. Other than massaging the location of some
- Waffle files and directories, I made no changes to my setup. Now, when
- a remote user shells, it invariably locks the machine. Locks hard
- enough to require the BigRedButtonReboot... niether three-fingered
- salute works. The remote end sees the 4dos signon and gets a prompt.
- But only 1 or 2 commands into the shell session, it locks.
-
- Repeatable symptom: The lockup occurs in the middle of typing a
- command, and is usually accompanied by a garbage character or two.
-
- Anyone have any ideas? I get the feeling that it might be ANSI-related,
- but why didn't things lock up before the new disc?
-
- On a related note, has anyone ever seen source for CTTY or its
- equivalent? I think it's time to explore writing a FOSSIL-aware CTTY
- command.
-
- OBEnvironment: DOS 3.3, Waffle 1.65, BNU 170, 4dos 4.0 rev B1.
