- Here's the crude answer:
-
- Would you kindly suggest to your system administrator that your mailer is
- f*cked. There is no way that it should have any business requesting MX
- or other info from DNS about any site in the .UUCP domain. Use of site.UUCP
- indicates only that that site is registered in the UUCP mapping project,
- and does not imply any other information.
-
- The polite answer:
-
- Get your mailer-daemon properly configured so that .UUCP does not show up
- as a top-level domain. Routing of mail to sites in the .UUCP domain
- should be done via paths info generated by pathalias from the UUCP maps.
-
- And, to answer the original question, no, I don't mind putting a working
- bang-path in my sig, and I'll immediately correct this oversight... well,
- as soon as I get home.

- Which is easy for informed, experienced news readers.
-
- I am entering this reply on a system at work. I've only had cnews/nn
- running on this system for about a week.... danger, danger, Will Robinson!

- Before you attempt to reply to this article, be forewarned that we have not
- completely worked the kinks out of OUR DNS/attmail configuration. Mail from
- the outside to some local addresses (e.g., morpheus!dawson@bselab.bls.com)
- works, but not to others. This is somewhat out of my control, though I've
- been offering tactful suggestions to the administrator of the system acting
- as MX record holder and email forwarder, and we hope to have this situation
- resolved in the very near future.
-
- Yes, you read correctly. bselab.bls.com is running SysVR4 and attmail. Ack.
- I've already suggested that they convert to another religion, like smail or
- IDA sendmail, something I've already had some experience in configuring...
-
- <big ol' worn out disgusted *sigh*>
