- ahhhh, but with Waffle v1.65 you can use WAFFLE ONLINE <DTE_SPEED> instead
- of having to use the LOCKED PORT RATE... especially if you are using the
- FOSSIL driver for Waffle (since it is loaded for FrontDoor) and you have
- told Waffle that you are running a locked port<<grin>>...
-
- also, with a frontend mailer, you can drop straight to UUCICO instead of
- having to go thru Waffle... yes, going thru Waffle will log the call in
- Waffle's callers log but some systems are slow enuff that for speed
- considerations, they may want to go straight to UUCICO... BTW: this is
- how i have my FrontDoor setup configured and yes... i use the same string
- to signal a UUCP transfer for all UUCP connections... (in case you are
- wondering what that string is... it's UUCP<<grin>>)...

-
- that will work... though a better method is to have the calling system(s)
- look for the "Press <ESC>" part of that string, and send the two <ESC>
- characters OR the required string... the reason i say "a better method" is
- because this string doesn't change like the system name (that comes after
- this string) might... if you are setup as i am and have another BBS package
- as the one under the mailer, then the string to match for external mail is
- what the calling system would send in response to the "Press <ESC>"
- sequence... if, on the other hand, you run Waffle under FD, as one of my
- point systems does, we just send two <ESC> characters and load thru Waffle
- since that's the way he wants it for UUCP logging...
