  22.                 "GREEN CARDS" TO BEE REPLACED

  24.   After August 2, 1993, permanent residents wiil need a new "green Card"
  25. The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) announced recently that
  26. form I-151 Alien Registration Receipt Card, widely knon as the green
  27. card, will be phased out.

  29.   Before August 2, 1993, holders will need to apply for form I-551,wich
  30. will be the only registration card for those lawfully admitted for
  31. permanent residence.

  33.   Notice of this change has not been publicized widely. We are concerned
  34. that unless green card holders "travel abroad and return, this important
  35. news may not reach them."

  37.   Permanent residents needing to replace green cards must apply to the
  38. INS on Form I-90 Aplication to Replace Alien Registracion Receipt Card,
  39. the INS announcement said. The I-90 form must be filled in person at
  40. the INS office having jurisdiction over the applicant's place of
  41. residence. The form must be accompanied by two photographs and a $70
  42. fee. Information and application forms can be obtained by calling
  43. 1-800-755-0777.
