  12. Presentation
  13. INFONOR '92, the International Symposium on applied Applications of
  14. Information Technology,is an event that takes place in Antofagasta, Chile,
  15. every two year. Since the beginning in 1979, it has become the most important 
  16. event in it's area in this region.

  18. The principal objetive of this symposium is to favour and promote, by means
  19. of tutorials, sesion, pannel sesion and papers, the contact and the
  20. interchange of the theoretical and practical knowledge, between chilean and
  21. foreign professionals that work in the areas of engineering and information
  22. technology.
  23.  
  24. This year there will be ten tutorials and around fifty papers.  EXPOIN '92
  25. the Industrial Exhibit of the North,is programmed simultaneously with INFONOR.
  26. EXPOIN '92 will take place in the industrial park, located in the north part
  27. of the city. In it is located the Computer Pavilion, sponsored by INFONOR
  28. '92, that will show the state of the art in computational equipment
  29. technology.

  31. Symposium site.
  32. INOFONOR '92 will take place in Universidad Catolica del Norte, in
  33. Antofagasta, the address is Avenida Angamos 0610, wich is in the south
  34. part of the city.

  36. Climate.
  37. The climate in the months of November and December is warm. During the
  38. spring the temperature fluctuates between 18 and 25 degrees centigrade.
  39. The beaches and swimming places are a great turistic attraction, the waters
  40. are calm and appropite for the practice of several nautic sports.
  41.  
  42. Hotels.
  43. All the hotels are located in te main streets of the city. There are buses
  44. from the airport to the principal hotel in Antofagasta, that is one block
  45. from the COLON square. The prices for single rooms of some of the
  46. hotels, with a previous reservation from the University are: El Tatio US$
  47. 14, Colon US$ 22, Astore US$ 24, San Marin US$ 18, Antofagasta US$30. Some
  48. of the prices for economic hostels are: El Cobre US$ 4, Latorre US$ 4.

  50. Money Exchange.
  51. The chilean currency is the peso, wich is equivalent to $380 per dollar.
  52. The main hotels receive dollars and can also be changed in the banks and
  53. special exchange places. Most of the stores accept credit cards, like
  54. Mastercard, Visa, Dinners and American Express.

  56. Travel Agency.
  57. TIEMPONOR is INFONOR's official travel agency. It is located in Latorre
  58. 2528, office 13, telephone 265527, fax 265529.

  60. Registration Fee.
  61. The registration fee depends on the type of participant, wich should be
  62. accredited when registered. The values are in chilean pesos and dollars are:
  63.       General: $ 70.000 or US$ 184.
  64.       Academics: $ 35.000 or US$ 92.

  66. Preliminay Program.
  67. INFONOR '92 will take place between Monday November 30 and Friday December
  68. 4. The program consists of ten tutorials and aproximately fifty papers. The
