  18. I do this differently.  I take the advertising blurb and put it in
  19. the postpaid business reply envelope and send it back.

  21. My first card was a Marshall Field's.  I was in there shopping for a
  22. present and they were offering a free box of Frango Mints to credit
  23. applicants.  Being a starving grad student, I figured it was worth my
  24. time, even though they wuoldn't possibly give me a card.  Lo and
  25. behold ...

  27. I didn't use it for about 4 years, except as a reference on other
  28. credit card applications.
