- [Sheheryar Hasnain relates difficulties with a used VW Jetta, and
- with Toyota on Western, from which it came. In this saga, the
- Jetta was repaired by Loeber Motors.]
-
- A note: Loeber Motors is not a good place to take your VW Jetta
- for repairs. I took my old Rabbit there for over a year, and I could
- never shake the feeling that they were doing a sloppy job.
-
- What got me to quit, however, were several incidents where they
- were out-and-out dishonest. I got my money back from one such incident--
- Loeber had charged me for a manufacturer's recall--only by writing to VW
- of America directly. These are NOT nice folks. I regret that I didn't
- have the stomach to fight them harder.
-
- I had very good experiences with German Auto Works, Ted Dahl
- proprieter, in Naperville. (Just two blocks from the train station, so
- it was accessible to this Hyde Parker.) Under his care my Rabbit ran
- until it had 200,000 miles, when I sold it to my neighbor.
-
- My suggestion is to establish a relationship with a good independent
- VW mechanic. Your Jetta will likely require a fair amount of attention,
- and Loeber Motors will be more than happy to take you to the cleaners.
