- The credit checks were not performed by the girlfriend - they were
- performed by whoever she applied for credit with. If you apply for
- a half dozen store credit cards in a short period, and then apply for
- a bank loan, you're virtually guaranteed to be questioned.

- (I was once refused a Discover card, on the basis that, as a single
- male under 25, I did not fit their "safe" profile, regardless of my
- income. When I pointed out the fine print on their application that
- said they could not refuse credit based on sex or age, they re-ran
- the application, and refused me on the basis that I had too many
- recent credit checks. Never mind that both were by Discover... :-/ )
