  13. With the latest report on trapnsportation costs and user pay, the government
  14. has really gone off the deep end.  Basically, their suggestions would amount
  15. to the death of transportation in this country at all levels.  Road costs 
  16. would go up 7-23 cents a litre.  But business would swallow the costs right?
  17. I mean since rail is going fast where it isn't already gone, what choice do
  18. they have?  Oh, I forgot, they could get out of the country.  Not a bad business
  19. choice since the middle class is fast disappearing and will have no discretionary
  20. income to buy anything - even if they have jobs left.  There are, of course, the
  21. rich and the politicians.  Of course, the rich can afford tax shelters and the
  22. politicians can just raise their tax-free allowance.

  24. The problem is, of course, the country is running out of money.  No money for
  25. social programs except for politicians' pension plans.  No money for investment
  26. in infrastructure - except penitariaries in Baloney's home riding, a Canadian
  27. space agency in Montreal, a naval reserve headquarters in Quebec city, etc. (I'm
  28. sure there are other examples in other parts of the country but I have no examples
  29. at hand).  No money for educational investment except education on the constitution
  30. and what a great job the Tories are doing.  No money for culture except salaries
  31. for the Tory appointees.  No money for job training but that's okay since
  32. there aren't any jobs anyway that require training.  No money for health costs
  33. but that's okay since there's no discretionary income for the sins (luxury food,
  34. booze, tobacco, etc.) that cause health problems and what the hell, we're all
  35. going to die anyhow.  No money, in fact, for anything but expensive studies that
  36. tell us we have no money and polls to let the Tories know what a great job they're
  37. doing.

  39. What's the solution?  The bottom line seems to be that this country is living 
  40. beyond its means.  To be blunt, we frankly cannot afford to be a country.  The
  41. only solution seems to be to sell off our assets so - anyone want to buy a slightly
  42. used country?
