  14. There are a lot of names floating around, besides Dannemeyer and
  15. Dornan, who have publicly expressed interest in running against
  16. Feinstein.

  18. I don't think any serious Repubs will make the race.  Feinstein
  19. trounced a well-financed centrist like Seymour, so unless some
  20. previously-unknown vulnerability comes to the surface, I don't
  21. expect her to have too difficult a time of it in '94.  I think a
  22. lot of the Repubs touted for Feinstein's seat will choose to run
  23. for statewide constitutional offices (Lt. Gov., Controller, 
  24. Treasurer, etc.) since some of these might be opening up.  I think
  25. that offers a much better chance for a Repub with ambitions for
  26. higher office.

  28. It's pretty clear that two statewide constitutional officeholders --
  29. Kathleen Brown and John Garamendi -- are looking at giving up their
  30. seats to run against Gov. Wilson.  Maybe Gray Davis and/or Leo McCarthy
  31. will get the same idea.
