- Is this a message meant for everybody?
- I was in sunnyvale, just south-east of you(didn't I see you're in
- mountain view?)
- for those who don't know, this is silicon valley, many miles from
- the epicenter south, and the SF & oakland devistation north.
- It was distressing to me, a 15-year old...I was a sophomore in high
- school...I was just leaving a room when it hit, so I just stayed
- in the doorway...I was afraid our house was gonna fall in from after
- shocks, because I didn't know how serious the earthquake was. There
- was no structural damage to our house whatsoever, which is now a big
- selling point since we're trying to unload that house---anyway,
- we talked to our neighbors, made sure no one was hurt---
- my father works in san leandro and was stuck in traffic
- (for those who know the area, that day he chose to take 237, not the
- dumbarton!!!)
- For those who don't know the area, San leandro is just south of
- oakland, but since we live further south, there was no chance
- of my father being on the cypress structure.
- I don't know if we over-reacted or not. We moved my bed away from my
- window, in case it shattered in the middle of the night---> it
- didn't
- we turned off our gas and electricity in case there was a
- leak--->there wasn't
- this left us with cold water for days.
- I could go on all day, but I'm spending $$$$s on this account, where
- $400 must last me 'till december
- There was basically no damage or injuries, in my area, or all of
- sunnyvale I believe (I mean no INJURIES in sunnyvale)
- we had broken dishes (a few) and sugar on the groud.
- (groud)
- ARGH
- ground
- there was water in the streets from all the swimming pool water.
- and our nerves were rattled for days and days.
- but that's about it.
- how about other people's stories?
- bye

- (p.s. my dad still works in San leandro, still commutes, and still
- takes 237!)
