- At times like this, reach for the daily backup tapes. (You do use
- SyBack or VMBackup or something, right?)
-
- If I had to guess, I'd look first to see if the trashed minidisk has a
- multi access disk password. If it does, I'd wonder if anyone would
- confess to having linked the disk in MW mode or otherwise having gotten
- it R/W when someone else had it R/W. That's the easiest way to trash a
- minidisk.
-
- Second easiest way is to have another minidisk overlap it, especially if
- the starting extents of the two minidisks don't match. Careful,
- formatting the trashed minidisk will only trash the new minidisk which
- just overlaid it. Check for overlays if you have any doubts before
- recovering the lost disk.
-
- I'm not a CMS file system expert, but I'd just format the mess and hope
- I've got good backups. If backups are dubious, I'd DDR the trashed disk
- to tape or another minidisk before formatting the mess; maybe you can
- later recover something from the second copy.
-
- Good luck,
- Nick
