- My fiance and I are in the same metaphorical boat. We will be applying (most
- likely) to the same universities after we complete our PhDs. We are definitely
- applying to the same PhD programs this winter. I've wondered how anyone will
- notice, though. Unless it happens that someone sees we have the same address,
- how will they know we are married. As far as I know, no one noticed that we
- had the same address when we applied for the MS program we are in currently.
- That's what the dept. secretary told me anyway, and I'd think the dept.
- secretary would be the most likely person to notice.
-
- Do you think it would be wrong to each accept positions without telling them?
- I wouldn't lie about it, but when should it come up? As far as I'm concerned,
- it's really no one's business if we are applying to be students, but it may be
- a different situation as faculty. People would probably be offended of they
- hired a pair of new profs and found out later they were married. OTOH, it
- might be advantageous to tell them up front. What do you all think?
