  13. At Michigan we converted all volume holdings to 899. As we update
  14. holdings for monographs the 899 is changed to 866 and the appropriate
  15. tags for supplements and indexes added.  For serials, we will change
  16. the 899 to 866 and add index and supplement tags as we change holdings
  17. from the summary to the detailed level.  This has worked fine for
  18. us particularly since our supplements and indexes in volume holdings
  19. were not identified in such a way that allowed their proper
  20. identification.  Our decision to update the 899 to 866 was based
  21. on using the correct MARC tag and the ability to display labels
  22. for indexes and supplements.
