  13. In NB 3/3.1 I believe that em dashes were made with line or box drawing
  14. characters (I am speaking of the em dash made with CTL+ALT+gray minus
  15. twice, not the usual typing dash of two hyphens).  When my printer is in
  16. Epson mode (dot matrix) it refuses to print these.  In fact, in the manual
  17. of the printer it clearly shows that Epsons don't include this symbol.  If
  18. NB 4 continues in this tradition, that might explain why Mervyn's steam
  19. powered dot matrix doesn't like the new "Magic Dash."  "Smart Quotes" fall
  20. under the same ban.
