- Since there are a few (I think) TACT fans on the list, maybe I could
- say a bit more. (I was just at a humanities computing wing-ding with
- Ian Lancashire whose office has direct oversight of TACT.) I think the
- software is *pretty* well ready for release -- a good working beta has
- been around for almost a year. The problem, as I understand it, was
- distribution. (Why not just make it available from FTP sites?? Beats
- me!) Anyway, it turns out the MLA is taking over TACT distribution
- which will remain shareware (or some kind of public domain ware),
- except you have to plop down $30 for the manual. And, much like
- earlier versions of NB, if you didn't have the manual, you might as
- well forget it.
