- Re: extension KBD
-
- There is no obligation to have the extension KBD for keyboard files,
- nor any other extension in NB. Extensions are made for easy
- identification. not for any programming needs.
-
- However, Becuase of the 3-bytes sequences introduced by NB 4.0,
- certain files MUST be stored in the compressed mode (with the
- /x switch). To avoid this nuisance, NBI introduced the possibility
- to make a list of filenames, or filename patterns, which would
- automatically then be called and stored in the compressed mode.
- Extensions, as a most useful pattern, have thus become, in NB 4.0,
- a necessary feature for a successful operation of a loadable
- file (keyboard. help, library, etc.). It can still be avoided,
- if the user remembers using the /x switch.
-
- The list of filename patterns appear in NBCUSTOM.SET, at the
- NBXL= line. It can be augmented or modified to suit your needs.
-
- If you have never looked at some extra documentation on NB
- keyboards, I would recommend reading about keyboards in
- NB-KBD01.ZIP. New keyboards for NB 4.0 are contained in
- NB-LNG01.ZIP. I will soon update this file.
