- Gee, I guess a posting to this list is an incantation for NBI to call.
- I talked to Rebecca (!) about my problems and got some resolved.
-
- Strangely, I was able to load the dictionary "high" and get ibid as well.
- This always happens in front of technical help people. Rebecca said
- some people had had problems with calling Ibid, not because of the
- dictionary, but because of "append" in their autoexec.bat. But I don't
- have that. Anyway, things seem to work now.
-
- The latest word is that auto-replace words and phrases are now limited
- to 39 letters because of some "lingua feature." I know there was
- speculation about this earlier. Anything longer just hangs the system.
- Rebecca checked this out with a programmer while on the line.
-
- She also admitted to some problems the the "paging" of multiple files
- in and out of memory, and the programmers are working on that as well.
- For me, this is less of a problem if I can load the dictionary high.
-
- As for the define, "it's not a bug, it's a feature." When defining a
- line of bold text which ends in a carriage return by cursor, placing the
- cursor on the carriage return and locking in the define _no longer_
- captures the MDMN command link it used to (this has also been
- appropriated by Lingua or Ibid or something). So you can either
- use scroll lock, and get the carriage return you probably don't want,
- or copy the text and use the "md nm" command from the action line to
- insert the proper code. Or, copy from expanded. I don't really like
- these solutions, but that's the way it is.
-
- As for dissappearing memory...it's a mystery. Defined blocks? Paging?
- RAM is an arcane world, a virtual plethora of brain twisters.
-
- Anyway, I hope I've been clear about the problems and the answers.
- Perhaps someone will find something here helpful.
