  26. I had transferred the 3.1 Ibid data files correctly, and had been adding
  27. records left and right by the time I faced the generation problem.

  29. I have been able to determine that my problem may have been due to a
  30. lack of sufficient memory (but that is in itself a problem--more later).
  31. I did generate the Ibid bibliography after I unloaded the printer file
  32. and increased my memory from 213K to something like 250K (I use DOS 5, but
  33. don't have expanded or extended memory in my 286-16 with 1 mb. total memory).

  35. The issue now is, I think, whether Ibid requires more memory in version 4
  36. than it did in 3.1, and, if so, why.  Although I was often short of memory
  37. in 3.1, it was only after the available total fell below, say, 125K.
