- My so-recent-that-it-still-smells-like-ink library degree is from Simmons
- in Boston, which gives a straight Master of Science. Having come to
- librarianship from graduate school (for French), I have always wondered at
- the need of library schools to fashion such "exclusive" degrees. MLS? DLS?
-
- Frankly, I think that the exclusive degrees must sound shady to an outsider.
- The academic world at large has stayed away from this type of thing histori-
- cally. If we want to be considered professionals--and we have a right to be--
- then maybe we should join the madding crowd on this one.
