- We have an odd requirement and am looking for suggestions from the net.
- The requirement is simple, don't ask why we have this requirement because
- the reasons are pretty goofy.
-
- We use 3480s for 99.9% of the tapes in our library. While a 3480 tape
- cartridge is pretty much a standard length, you can buy "long tapes"
- which are longer and can hold more data than the standard sized tape.
- What we are interested in is a "short tape". Something that would
- be roughly 20% shorter than the standard 3480 tapes.
-
- Does anyone know if anyone makes such a thing as a "short 3480 cartridge"?
- If so, where can you buy them?
-
- As an alternative to purchasing a shorter tapes, does anyone know if
- there is any way to alter a regular tape so that it thinks a good
- sized chunk of the tape is bad and can not be written to effectively
- reducing the amount of data that can be stored on a single tape?
-
- Thanks,
