- I was told by an education professor that difficulties with spelling
- and dislexia are related. My problem isn't just a few troublesome words--but I
- have always had trouble because I can't tell if a word "looks" right. I can
- write a troublesome word 3 of 4 ways and they all look equally right. [I used
- to try this approach on papers and during tests--on the assumption that I would
- luck out at least once in the course of the test.] I also have trouble with
- numbers, usually the last 2 digits will switch places when I look away--it's
- just like them.
- I thank the gods for the gift of spellcheck, and just wish I had known
- when I was younger that it was a wiring problem and not stupidity that made me
- one of the first out on every spelling bee.
