  26. We have a Buy/sell/trade system on our CWIS.  The system is restricted
  27. to University faculty, staff and students.

  29. There is a screen presented to the user that requires the posting of
  30. their identification number and name.  The postings are accumulated in
  31. a file and are then processed against official University records
  32. prior to posting to the system.  A person in my office checks the
  33. postings prior to loading into the CWIS for completeness, that is,
  34. they have listed a contact address or phone number.  We have had some
  35. rather explicit ads posted but the submitter tried to use bogus ids to
  36. avoid identification and these ads were rejected by the check against
  37. the official records.  For ads that that are incomplete or where the
  38. person is ligitimate we often contact them if they have posted their
  39. name in a form that does not match the official records, such as using
  40. initials that do not appear in the official records.

  42. We have a statement preceeding the posting screens that indicates that
  43. all negotiations and arrangements between individuals are their
  44. respnsibility and the University accepts no responsibility for the
  45. outcome.

  47. The system has been operating for about a year and a half without
  48. problems.
