- We run something similar. There is a 40 node computer lab (20 PC/20 Mac)
- in the Libraries with its own dedicated Novell 3.11 server. We run the
- Mac NLM at the server and have put Mac Name Space on one or two of the
- disk volumes. We run thin-coax Ethernet to all machines. We have had few
- problems while using NetWare 3.11. We did have quite a few problems when
- using NetWare 2.15 with the Mac VAP.
-
- We load Mac apps on the fileserver and access them just as we do with DOS
- apps. Oh, one problem that we do run into is backup of the server. I
- currently have a DAT (Digital Audio Tape) drive attached to a workstation.
- In its current configuration we can only back up the data fork of the Mac
- files. This is useless, of course, for backing up Mac executable files.
- We will soon be moving the drive to the fileserver and buying one of the
- NLM-based backup packages. This will allow us to backup the Mac files
- in full as well as we do our DOS files.
