- LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY STUDY OF BIRDS IN AN AGROECOSYSTEM

- Project Description: The study is funded by the Environmental
- Protection Agency to evaluate the effects of agricultural
- land-use patterns and practices on the avifauna of a
- midwestern agroecosystem. The study will focus on the
- importance of various aspects of landscape structure (e.g.
- edge-to-area relationships, interspersion of habitat types,
- and connectivity of strip cover) on species richness,
- composition, abundance, and predation of artificial nests.

- Requirements: The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. or
- equivalent in ecology or a related field, background in
- avian ecology, good quantitative skills and evidence of
- research productivity. Knowledge of GIS and supervisory
- experience are desirable.

- Support: Salary commensurate with experience. Full funding for
- research expenses, including field technicians.

- Postion Duration: To begin as soon as a suitable applicant is
- found, and perferably no later than January 1993. Position
- to continue until spring 1995.
