  12.             POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTS

  14. Northern Illinois University anticipates two
  15. tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR positions for
  16. fall, 1993.  A Ph.D and postdoctoral experience are
  17. required.  Each candidate will be expected to
  18. develop a vigorous externally funded research
  19. program, direct graduate (M.S. and Ph.D) students,
  20. and teach introductory courses for majors and non-
  21. majors.

  23. CELL BIOLOGIST:  The candidate should have research
  24. experience in cell signal transduction, cell growth
  25. control (oncogenes), and/or the cytoskeleton.
  26. Teaching obligations will include an introductory
  27. human anatomy-physiology course and a course in the
  28. candidate's area of expertise.

  30. EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGIST:  The candidate should be
  31. organismally oriented and have research experience
  32. dealing with evolutionary aspects of physiology or
  33. development.  The candidate's research program will
  34. complement the department's current strengths in
  35. evolutionary biology and ecology.  Teaching
  36. obligations will include courses in evolution and
  37. ecology and a course in the candidate's area of
  38. expertise.
