- WA3PSD Provides Current Status On WEBERSAT-OSCAR-18 (WO-18)
-
- As winter approaches, imaging on WO-18 is pushed farther south of the
- magnetic equator. In upcoming weeks, expect to see images of Northern
- Australia, the coast of Peru and Chile, the southern tip of India and Lake
- Victoria being generated. Additionally, a group of students at Weber State
- University (WSU) have chosen to develop an extensive telemetry analysis
- program for their senior project. There are many gigabytes of telemetry
- downloaded from WO-18 on file at WSU because students have virtually never
- missed capturing data on at least one pass per day since launch. A program
- incorporating a complete statistics package, and which is also capable of
- extracting and analyzing individual telemetry parameters from the mass of
- data on file should prove valuable, far beyond completing these senior's
- project requirement for graduation.
-
- One of the areas which WA3PSD hopes to see the students at WSU explore is
- the performance of the individual battery cells in the total battery pack
- and to see how it compares with that observed immediately after launch. This
- will be valuable data for all the MICROSATs and all future OSCARs. WA3PSD
- comments that it will be interesting to see how far the the student team
- goes with their project.
-
- [The AMSAT News Service (ANS) would like to thank Chris Williams (WA3PSD)
- of WSU for this bulletin item.]
