  33. Except for the last 8 months I have lived within a few kilometres
  34. of Lucas Heights, i.e., the last 24 years.  I don't glow in the
  35. dark.  I am not bald.  From my front verandah you can see HIFAR
  36. clearly.  When I was young (we're talking about 10-12) my school
  37. mates and I, being allowed to roam the bush, would often walk over to
  38. `the reactor' and visit the visitors' centre.  I wonder how many
  39. for the people in Engadine (where I come from) who complain have
  40. ever actually bothered to do this.  The ignorance and gut-reaction
  41. I have seen to the one place we have to do some research (and prepare
  42. important medicines) really appals me.  One of my high-school friend's
  43. mother was big in the `let's get rid of Lucas Heights' movement.
  44. I always found it amusing that she moved into the area when it was
  45. already there and has moved since then and has still stayed in the area.
