- My local council (Collingwood) uses a whipper-sniper to trim
- around the base of trees in the parks. It can be seen that the
- whipper-snipper is damaging the bark at the base of the tree.
- This damage is quite serious with the soft barked Melaluecas. I
- am concerned that if the practice is continued the trees will
- eventually be ring-barked, killing the trees.
- Does anyone have any evidence of a tree being killed by this
- practice? Do other councils use this method of trimming around
- trees?
