- Hello!
-
- I would like some advice on obtaining a medal for a veteran.
-
- My father was a captain in the 442nd regiment in WWII. He received a Bronze
- Star and an Italian decoration (sorry, I don't remember the name). He was
- also entitled to at least one Purple Heart, but he never picked it up, saying
- that his wounds were minimal and that being wounded wasn't a good reason for
- for winning a medal.
-
- I would like to obtain the medal, since I have collected his military things
- and this would complete a nice collection. I do not have his discharge papers,
- though, and I understand that WWII records were wiped out in a fire.
-
- One possibility is to write to Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii, a decorated
- vet from the same regiment. I do not have an address for him either in
- Hawaii or DC.
-
- Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
