- Last evening I watched Francis Fnord Coppola's "Dracula." The film has
- certain problems, and the ending was disgusting. However, the sets,
- costumes, and cinematography were delightful.
-
- I saw the film at the "Los Angeles Theatre." This is the most impressive
- cinema I have ever seen. It has survived the aesthetic and architectural
- dark ages with little damage. The ceiling was so high and intricately
- decorated it attained a sense of religious majesty, boxes quite literally
- fit for a King, gargoyles glowered from high on the walls, dark red velvet
- and gilt were generously (recklessly!) used. In short, a Film Palace.
- I suggest a visit, if possible. 615 South Broadway, all films are $6.
-
- It was strangely as if the film were made for this cinema. There was a
- powerful feeling of being involved in the events on screen, due largely
- to the lavish, darkly beautiful, and rotting cinema.
-
- I am either elated at having such a thoroughly enjoyable experience or I
- am very sad.
